Mel Deanna Trail - August 27th, 2006
The Mel Deanna Trail is a nice easy walk through the forest south east of Castlegar. The return trip is 8.7 km there is a little shelter at the half way point to stop and have a snack.
Mel Deanna Tail Head
Abra and I met Mom and Dad in Salmo and rode in the Jimmy to the rest stop 7 km out side of Castlegar on Highway 3. The trail starts just behind the out houses and goes up a small hill where you can get a nice view of the valley below. The trail goes south through the gate shown above and then down through the woods. About 1.5 km in you arrive at the beginning of the pond that you will walk around. At this point you can go to your left or right, either way will get you back to this point.
